The International Center of Photography (ICP) welcomed supporters to its 28th Annual Infinity Awards on May 2nd at Manhattan's Chelsea Piers. The Infinity Awards were inaugurated in 1985 to bring public attention to outstanding achievements in photography by both seasoned professionals with distinguished careers and emerging luminaries. The Infinity Awards are ICP’s primary fund-raising event, supporting the full range of its programs, including exhibitions, education, collections, and community outreach. Free Arts NYC 13th Annual Art Auction

On April 23, 2012, more than 500 guests convened at Chelsea's Eyebeam venue to support Free Arts NYC's 13th Annual Art Auction presented by Whitewall Magazine and fashion designer Monika Chiang. The benefit, co-chaired by Mary Alice Stephenson, Amy Sacco, and Amanda Ross (left), raised over $500,000 for Free Arts NYC's art mentoring programs for underserved youth. 89 works by accomplished artists were exhibited and auctioned, including works by Roberta Bayley, Cecily Brown, Dan Colen, Tara Donovan, Glenn Ligon, Jeff Muhs, Dave Muller, Sterling Ruby, Julian Schnabel, Richard Serra, Spencer Tunick, Massimo Vitali, and Christopher Wool. The Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health 18th Annual SportsBall Gala

On April 12th, the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health (AAIUH) celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Annual SportsBall Gala at Chelsea Piers. New York Times Sports Columnist, William C. Rhoden and New York 1 News Anchor, Cheryl Wills (left), hosted the "black tie & sneakers" event that raises funds for health empowerment programs in urban minority communities. Each year the gala honors significant contributions that further it's mission and celebrate the legacy of tennis champion and humanitarian, Arthur Ashe. On March 26th, the 9th Annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares fundraiser drew a host of celebrity guests to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum to support charities in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Actress Chloe Sevigny chaired the event, which benefited Lambda Legal; Hetrick-Martin; AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA); and Point Foundation. Event originator Jeffrey Kalinsky, founder of the New York and Atlanta Jeffrey designer boutiques, is Executive Vice President of Designer Merchandising for Nordstrom. DIFFA Cocktails by Design Event Launches Annual Dining By Design Tour

On March 22nd, DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS welcomed guests to the sold-out Cocktails by Design launch event for its 15th Annual Dining By Design Tour. The New York leg of the tour, held in conjunction with the Architectural Digest Home Show at Pier 94, featured world-class dining environments designed by international and local talents. Guests enjoyed gourmet food and drink from celebrated New York City restaurants and national beverage sponsors, and had the opportunity to bid on luxury items at the silent auction. Adrian Grenier Hosts Glenfiddich's 125th Anniversary Liberty Island Gala

On March 15th, actor and filmmaker Adrian Grenier hosted an exclusive auction gala on Liberty Island to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky. Glenfiddich set another world record that evening, when a rare bottle of its 55-year-old Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve became the most valuable whisky ever purchased at auction, selling to collector Mahesh Patel for $94,000. Auction proceeds benefit SHFT Initiatives, the environmental charity founded in 2009 by Mr. Grenier and film producer Peter Glatzer, who was also present at the event. Martha Graham Dance Company Gala Honors Lee and Marvin Traub

On March 14th, the Martha Graham Dance Company presented a one-night-only special event at the New York City Center, featuring international ballet sensation Diana Vishneva’s New York debut in Errand into the Maze. Also featured was dynamic guest artist Fang-Yi Sheu's moving performance in Chronicle. The event preceded a gala dinner at The Russian Tea Room to honor former longtime Bloomingdale's CEO/President, Marvin Traub and his wife, Lee Traub for their commitment to the Company. The gala raised more than $272,000 dollars to support the Traub Fund for New York Performance, a newly established fund. The New York 2012 Armory Arts Show

The 14th edition of The Armory Show, New York City's most prestigious international annual art fair, took place from March 7-11 at Piers 92 and 94 on the Hudson River. The fair attracted 228 prominent contemporary and modern art galleries from around the world, showcasing a wide range of 20th and 21st century work. A total of 157 galleries from 30 countries exhibited in the Contemporary sector and 71 dealers representing 9 countries exhibited in the Modern sector, which showcases historically significant modern art. The 2012 edition of Armory Focus highlighted Nordic art, featuring 19 invited exhibitors from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland. Whitney Museum of American Art 2012 Biennial

On March 1st, the Whitney Museum of American Art's 2012 Biennial opened to the public, allowing visitors a glimpse of the current state of contemporary art in the United States. The Whitney's signature exhibition comprises work by fifty-one artists, including sculpture, painting, installations, photography, dance, theater, music, video, and film. The 2012 Biennial is seventy-sixth in the ongoing series of Biennials and Annuals presented by the Whitney since 1932, two years after its founding. The exhibition will be on view through May 27th, with portions continuing through June 10th.
