French-American Aid for Children Bal des Berceaux
The Plaza Hotel, Fifth Avenue at Central Park South, NY, NY | 04.29.2011
On April 29th, the French-American Aid for Children (FAAFC) held its 70th Annual
Bal des Berceaux, an elegant black-tie benefit featuring a debutante ball, live auction,
dinner-dance, and awards ceremony. The Bal's tradition dates back to a wartime fundraiser organized in 1942 to send
financial aid to Les Berceaux de Rouen, a French orphanage founded by the American philanthropist
Seymour Houghton.
The FAAFC is a New York-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide financial assistance to abused, disadvantaged and sick
children in the United States, France and other parts of the world through programs administered by vetted
children’s charities in the United States and France. The funded programs focus on children’s health,
children’s education, and the prevention of child abuse. Founded in 1939, the organization is composed of all-women
volunteers.
Corporate supporters include Air France, Baccarat, Cartier, Chanel, and
Société Générale.
