Style 1 Media On June 9th, the Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) held its Spring Fling: A "Progressive" Dinner benefit, so named in honor of the ice dancing term "progressive," which describes a movement that powers the performers forward. The benefit supported ITNY's Rehearsal Fund, which makes possible the rehearsal of existing repertory and creation of new work. The Spring Fling featured two delightful events in stunning Chelsea homes. ITNY Board Member Susan Numeroff hosted an elegant cocktail reception at Artisanal House. Guests then traveled several blocks to the Marvel Comics Loft, where ITNY Board Member Nanci Quesada hosted a dinner soirée. ITNY Board Member Susan Numeroff welcomed guests to Artisanal House, along with ITNY Founder Moira North, Chairman Michel Mercure, and Executive Director Jirina Ribbens. In the private garden, ITNY ice dancing stars Elisa Angeli and Marni Halasa mesmerized guests with spectacular ice dance movements. In the gallery, guests were "wowed" by artist Rinus Van de Velde's powerful black and white drawings on exhibit. Artisanal Fromagerie & Bistro provided culinary direction for the reception. At the Marvel Comics Loft, residence of ITNY Board Member Nanci Quesada, guests relaxed over dinner and dessert featuring culinary delights by Blue Ribbon Restaurants. Pianist Michael Roberts provided live musical entertainment and guests had the opportunity to view 25 years of ITNY highlights captured on video.

ITNY events for the upcoming season include the annual Home Show at Chelsea Piers (October 20-22) and the annual Benefit Gala and Performance on October 24th, which will honor U.S. Champion and two-time Olympian Johnny Weir. ITNY will be doing an 8-week engagement in Tennessee to present A Dollywood Christmas on Ice, and will participate in the New York City LGBT Pride March on June 26th.

The Ice Theatre of New York was founded in 1984 by Moira North and is considered the nation’s premier ice dancing ensemble. ITNY has changed the face of figure skating by creating works that integrate the sensibilities of contemporary dance, music and art. In addition to building and performing works of artistic merit, ITNY also reaches out to the next generation of skaters and audiences through its exemplary education, community outreach and training programs.
