Style 1 Media On February 6th, Belgian fashion design outfit, A.F. Vandevorst launched the U.S. debut of its concept, "The Smallest Traveling Store In The World (TSTSITW)" in New York City, just in time for Fashion Week. The installation, an extension of A.F. Vandevorst’s guerilla concept store AKTION in Belgium, reflects the designers' sources, visual concepts, and branding. TSTSITW is a shop-within-a-shop at Patron of the New, 151 Franklin Street, Tribeca.

A.F. Vandevorst, founded by designers An Vandevost and Filip Arickx, offers a full Women's Ready-to-Wear collection including shoes, lingerie, bags, and accessories. The company began showing in 1998. They have designed for theater productions, and their work has been presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), in Manhattan. They find much of their inspiration in the worlds of art and (yes!) hospitals, including hospital uniforms and medical symbols. The TSTSITW installation centers around the image of a hospital bed and the room surrounding it.

"The Smallest Traveling Store In The World" will remain on view at Patron of the New until February 24, 2012, after which it will proceed to the next segment of its U.S. tour.
