Victor De Souza Fall/Winter 2012 Collection: Modern Historical Couture
Bowery Hotel Terrace, NY, NY | 02.10.2012 | by Merry Esparza
Fashion designer Victor de Souza presented his Fall/Winter 2012 Collection at the
Bowery Hotel on February 10th. His creations recall a golden age of high couture: fitted bodices; full, flowing skirts;
luxe fabrics; and ultra-feminine details. The pieces are formal, yet whimsical and romantic. He describes the woman who wears his designs as "a matador of fashion,"
who "lives for her own pleasures--lost in the magic of her Spanish castle." Victor de Souza, born in Argentina, debuted his couture collection in 2002 at Paris Fashion Week. In 2009, he
launched his Ready-to-Wear Collection. Clients include Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez,
Nicole Kidman, Jessica Biel, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Cindy Lauper.
John Barrett Salon created hairstyles and Le Métier de Beauté provided a team of make-up artists for the runway show. Runway music was supplied by producer/songwriter, Uriel Frenchie Kadouch, with live music performed by Biet Simkin. The after party at the Bowery Hotel Terrace was hosted by Chiu-Ti Jansen, publisher of YUE Magazine, Board member of the Couture Council of the Museum at FIT, and founder of China Happenings.
