Miami Design District Buzzes with Culture During Design Miami 2011

The 18 square-block Miami Design District, located just north of downtown Miami, has become a first-class
destination for art, design, architecture, and fashion lovers. During the December, 2011 Art Basel Miami Beach and
Design Miami/ fairs, the District's design and furniture showrooms, art galleries, fashion boutiques, and cultural
spaces welcomed visitors from around the world to a week of events culminating in a VIP Night on December 1st.
Highlights included Dior's chic pop-up boutique featuring Anselm Reyle’s new accessory collection;
Beatriz Milhazes' bejeweled mobile commissioned by Cartier; and a historic
Buckminster Fuller-Norman Foster installation.

The pre-eminent international design show, Design Miami/, experienced a significant increase in sales and attendance
at its 2011 edition which took place from November 29 to December 4th, 2011. The show attracted a record number of 29,000 visitors, bringing in its strongest
sales figures to date. Now in its seventh year, Design Miami/ provides a showcase for limited-edition work from top international designers
and presents cultural programming that highlights significant ideas, trends, and directions in the design field.
In its prime location adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center and Art Basel Miami Beach,
Design Miami/ attracts collectors, gallerists, designers, and curators from around the world.

DIFFA Tribute Honors David Rockwell

On November 9th, DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS
honored legendary architect and designer David Rockwell for his
twelve years of commitment and accomplishments as DIFFA Board Chairman. Executive Director
David Sheppard welcomed guests from DIFFA's support base of
design industry professionals. DIFFA Board Member, actress Whoopi Goldberg hosted the
program, and HIV/AIDS Activist Mary Fisher presented an award to Mr. Rockwell.
Actress Kerry Butler and composer Marc Shaiman,
from Catch Me If You Can, performed a musical tribute to Mr. Rockwell,

Amar’e Stoudemire, and New York’s most eligible bachelors celebrated the Range Rover Evoque launch
at Gotham’s October Men’s Issue Cover Party on October 12th.
The issue features actor Matthew Modine's profile of cover star Amar’e Stoudemire: Manhattan’s Man of Style,
and writer John Bobey's look at Manhattan's Most Eligible Bachelors.
The launch party took place at Land Rover Manhattan, part of Manhattan Automobile Company, New York’s
only authorized Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover, Lincoln, Volvo and Mazda retailer.

DIFFA'S Cocktails by Design Event Launches Dining By Design Tour

On March 17th DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS
welcomed 800 guests to Cocktails by Design, the launch event for
DIFFA's annual Dining By Design Tour.
From March 17th through March 21st, DIFFA showcased more than 40 dining environments
in its premier fundraiser at Pier 94, held in conjunction with the
Architectural Digest Home Show.
Talented international and local designers joined with celebrated New York City restaurants
to provide a spectacular experience that included fashion, food, interior design, and
architecture. The 2011 event honored Margaret Russell,
Editor In Chief of Architectural Digest.
